The Entrance Test—Principles of Control Systems is designed to assess your knowledge and readiness for one of the most critical and foundational courses in automation and control systems. This test is the first step towards enrollment in the full Principles of Control Systems course.

Eligibility

1. 2+ years of experience with Motor Controls (motor starts, variable frequency drives, DC drives, and standard electrical components) as well as troubleshooting/programming, including HMI components, Programmable Logic Controls (PLC) programs, and industrial electrical hands-on experience and troubleshooting.
2. 1+ year of experience with repair of control network components.
3. Some experience with robotic systems maintenance, including robot, tool, hydraulic systems, and teach pendant.
4. SACA certification in a relevant area can be used as a substitute for some experience

This entrance exam evaluates your understanding of basic engineering principles, mathematics, and systems control to ensure you are prepared to dive into these advanced topics. A 60% or higher score is required to qualify for full course enrollment.

Users familiar with Microsoft Excl Business Intelligence and/or Microsoft Access will appreciate the integration of both into one smooth, cloud-friendly platform. PivotTables, Pivot Charts, and Filters are all supercharged in Power BI. Power BI tables and charts are interactive reports that users can customize, share and publish for data analytics purposes. This course covers the following concepts: load the data, transform data tables with dates, transform data tables with text, create simple and advanced reports, use AI for data insight, and publish and share Power BI online.

Data collection and data management are growing fields related to data analysis and business intelligence. XML is an in-demand coding language that is increasingly used in data management. Learning XML doesn’t have to be intimidating! The components of code, down to the characters, are labeled and color-coded to enhance understanding of the building blocks of XML code. Understanding XML documents is shown in context of the commonly used companion codes for restricting content with SML Schema, navigating nodes with XPATH, and transforming the content with styles with XSLT. Additional topics show the relationship of XML with Microsoft Excel, including importing, mapping Schema, and exporting content.

Learn how to control and validate data entry. Using actual county and other municipality data, you will learn how to enter, analyze and create advanced reports, including Pivot Tables and Pivot Charts. This course covers expert concepts from the Excel certification exams.

Logical and statistical formulas can analyze the dataset and return an answer based on your criteria. Learn to use logical, statistical and text function. This course will use actual mobility data to cover intermediate concepts from the Excel certification exams. This is part two of a two-part series. Pre-requisite: CIS 1022/Data Analytics Level I

This class is part one of a two-part series, and must be taken prior to Data Analytics: Level 2.
